7/17, afternoon I beat your high score on our video game btw. You might wanna come over and fix that unless you WANT to admit I'm a WAY better driver than you.
7/17, late evening ...you just wanna hear me say it, don't you? I'm worried about you, Pines.
7/18, early afternoon Dipper...just. You've gotta let me know you're okay. We're supposed to get out of here together, remember? So you have to come back. Don't leave me hangin' dude.
[ There's countless responses Dipper could send, when he finally does check his CereVice. It admittedly wasn't high on his list of priorities, but to be fair, your priorities when you've come back from the dead for a second time might not be entirely usual. He's been back at the apartment for a few hours before he finally does check, so it's evening when he's reading through Hiro's messages. It's also been an impossibly long day, especially considering he was only alive for about half of it.
He's tired. He doesn't want to deal with this.
I'm worried about you, Pines.
You sure have a heck of a way of welcoming your dead best friend home, Hiro.
He types out a few messages - some sarcastic, some sincere, some long-winded, some curt. Nothing feels quite right. But then again, nothing felt right now. Maybe it'd be better if he said nothing at all, but Dipper can't risk adding to the pile of guilt that was splintering his soul at that very moment. ]
I'm back. Sorry for making you worry. I don't know what else to say.
[He heaves a sigh of relief only heard probably by Baymax when Dipper's texts come through. He's not an idiot though. He knows that the messages are clipped and that Dipper's only responding because Hiro bugged him so much while he was gone.
Truthfully it adds to his worries. Weiss was back today and so was Rei, but he'd already spoken with them. With Dipper...he's afraid and prepared for the worst, really.]
Since when have you ever worried about what you should say to me? Are you home?
[He doesn't like the idea of Dipper being alone. That doesn't settle well for him either.]
[ Since I got a few people killed including myself, but he doesn't say that. Of course he doesn't say that. ]
Yeah, but Mabel's here.
[ So, he's not alone. He's not sure he wants to see Hiro, either - in fact, he's pretty sure he doesn't. Because seeing him will mean talking about this and he doesn't want to talk about this - and if they don't talk about this, they'll talk about the others, and how plenty of people made it out of their involuntary field trips safely, and actually learned something from it.
For all their personal sacrifice, Dipper felt like his team had learned next to nothing. They'd died in vain. ]
[...this is still troublesome to him. The responses are a warning still but he's still poking his nose right where it doesn't belong. He won't push much this time though. This? Whatever it was? It was bigger than all of them this time.]
Good...I mean that's really good. I was kinda hoping you'd say that?
[Wow he's bombing.]
Look I don't...we don't...when you're ready? [He's not sure how to say that they don't have to talk now but he wants to make sure Dipper will be okay, and when he's ready to talk about anything or just hang out with him, he's around. How do you say that?]
Just text me for...whatever. [He haaaaates this, but it's fine. It's better than pushing Dipper and having him get mad again and then they don't talk for a while. Again. Like the jungle. That was bad.]
And hey, I'm gonna take this opportunity to keep playing and bump it up even higher. Good luck getting it back.
3/4

I don't like making promises I don't know if I can keep.

...stick with Mabel for a while okay?

I think that's gonna be best for the both of us.
[ And then, a few minutes later: ]
Don't get too cozy with your high score, though.
We both know who the real champ is.
