There was something you said back then... when we met. About how I'd done something for you. But... that can't have been right. Could it? I was just wondering what you meant.
Well, if he's going to tell her, this is as good of an opportunity as he's going to get. ]
...Right. About that. [ The hesitation in his tone is a force of habit. Really, if anyone was going to judge him for what he was about to admit, it wouldn't be her. ] Well? You know how a few days ago someone on the network was talking about forgetting memories?
[ She sounds so awed, and for a moment, she's quiet. Then, all at once, she bursts out with a tone of pure joyousness: ]
Dipper!
[ A beat. ]
Um, sorry. It's just, I'm so glad to finally meet you! Or, well, I guess we already met. I really wanted to know who that person was... they seemed really special. And you are! But...
[ Another beat, and she chills her heels a little, her tone receding into something a little bittersweet. ]
[ A small sound escapes Xion before she can help it, one that isn't quite a gasp or a laugh or a sigh but somehow a mix of all of those, a surprised, quiet, flattered exhalation of breath. She's been complimented before, but this feels different from the way that man in the library spoke to her, the one that told her she had a lovely face and said she was beautiful. Hearing Dipper call her cool is ... something else. Behind her CereVice, Xion's face crinkles up in the biggest smile as she ducks her chin, her own face going a bit pink at the compliment. ]
... thanks. You're pretty cool too, Dipper.
[ Her laugh is quiet, not quite a giggle. ]
And ... I'm glad. I meant what I said that day. Everything. Memories really are important to me. And I think ... you'll succeed at what you're trying to do. Being a better person... there's just something about you that makes me feel like I can believe in you.
[ A warm smile more than makes its presence known in his voice. ]
Well, now I've got to be sure I'm being a better person, because I'm not about to let you down.
[ He means that, too. He could think he could be better all he wants - he's used to being self-motivated. But it's different, being told by someone else that they believe in him. It's different, being told by her that she believes in him.

That...it was me, actually.

...Xion, you are so cool.
[ Her reaction? It's kind of a big deal for him. Just give him a moment to collect himself. ]
Y-yeah, a lot better. And...that wasn't just the overly-dramatic knight flair talking, you know. What you said that day really did help me out a lot.
[ Weird. It's weird. Being this vulnerable and not feeling defensively anxious because of it. ]

[ It was strangely comforting, talking to him, even about something so big and so scary. ]

[ Oh, no.
Oh no oh no oh no oh no. ]
Thanks. I really appreciate - well, everything. And you know, if you ever need to talk...I'm here for you, too.
[ OH, NO. ]
